What this temperature conversion is for

Use this page when a measurement is written in degrees Celsius and the next step needs degrees Fahrenheit. The number stays blank until you press Calculate, so a half-typed entry is never mistaken for the answer.

The factor

Change degree Celsius to Celsius first, then into degree Fahrenheit. Celsius and kelvin use the same size step. Fahrenheit and Rankine use a smaller step: nine of those degrees fit in five Celsius degrees. °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. K = °C + 273.15. °R = (°F + 459.67).

A worked example

20 degrees Celsius are 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Multiply the result by the reverse factor if you want the original number back.

How to check it

Write the factor down, do the multiply on paper, and compare it with the result card. If you change a sentence on this page, edit the HTML file and reload. The form and this note live in the same file.

The reverse conversion is degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. A nearby pair in the same units is degrees Rankine to degrees Fahrenheit. When the converted number is the input to a job, continue with the Fahrenheit and Celsius for the oven.
